Who I am

I’m Kaori, a bilingual Asian therapist in New York, and passionate about helping adults find clarity and connection in their lives. I specialize in psychotherapy that honors your past choices and supports you in living a meaningful, fully engaged life.

My own journey—navigating new cultures and growing through life’s challenges—inspires me to offer therapy that is gentle, culturally attuned, and deeply respectful of your unique story.

I believe that everyone carries an inner wisdom, even if it feels buried beneath anxiety, self-doubt, or old wounds. My approach weaves together emotion-focused and somatic therapy, inviting you to reconnect with your strengths and create meaningful change from within.

Therapy with me isn’t about quick fixes. It’s about creating a safe space where you can honor your past, understand your emotional patterns, and discover new ways of relating—to yourself and others. I’m here to support you, in English or Japanese, as you move toward a life that feels truly your own.

If you’re curious about how therapy could support your journey, I invite you to reach out. Let’s take the next step together.

My Approach to Therapy

Emotion-Focused & Somatic Therapy

I believe therapy is a collaborative, heart-centered, and deeply human process—a safe space where you can explore your feelings, thoughts, and experiences without judgment or expectation. You can learn more about my holistic therapy.

I practice AEDP® (formerly Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy), a resilience-oriented, trauma-informed, and emotion-focused approach that supports profound healing and authentic connection. AEDP® blends traditional talk therapy with somatic awareness and emotional processing, helping you heal not just intellectually, but on a deeply felt, embodied level.

Therapy with me is like exploring a dark cave with flashlights—we move together through uncertainty and pain, illuminating the path toward hope, clarity, and inner strength.

If you’re ready to begin your journey toward healing and self-discovery, I invite you to schedule a free consultation.

A Bit About Me

Raised in Tokyo, Japan, I deeply understand the complexities of balancing cultural values with self-expression. Moving to the U.S. broadened my perspective and deepened my empathy for clients navigating bicultural identity, immigration challenges, and family expectations.

Outside of therapy, I enjoy yoga, meditation, and karate, which help me stay grounded and balanced. I live in Westchester, NY, with my husband, two teenageers, a dog, and two cats.
